The Church as we know it today was formed by a union of Pill Congregational Church, founded in 1787 and the Baptist Chapel, founded in 1815. At that time, many of the Church members and members of the congregation were connected with the servicing of the sea and river lanes to Bristol, as pilots and boatmen. From around 1905, more emphasis was placed on Baptist teachings in the Church and there is a baptismal pool under the front stage in the chapel, for baptisms.
Today, the Church is surrounded by shops, close to where Pill railway station used to be and the building has recently been redecorated throughout.
