There has been a Methodist Church in Pill since 1757, although the present building was opened in 1972. It is a multi-purpose building, situated in the heart of the village, facing the green. John Wesley visited Pill on a number of occasions between 1750 and 1780 and Pill certainly played a part in the advancement of Methodism in America. Francis Asbury went to America in 1771, sailing from Pill and became the most important figure in Methodism in that country.
At the waterfront, on the green near the Church, stands a stone commemorating the American connection.
